Jordan Pendleton was one of the more talented, NFL-caliber players that went through the BYU football program under Bronco Mendenhall, but sadly endured several injuries that wound up cutting his pro-hopes out of the picture.
The game Penny points to as the genesis of all his injury problems was a road trip to Logan in 2010 that saw the Aggies of Utah State beat the Cougars 31-16. Pendleton dislocated his patella during the game, and says he can trace every ensuing injury thereafter back to that moment.
Not only was it a physically painful game for Jordan, but he recalls the defensive coordinator at the time “quitting on us” during the game, requiring Andrew Rich and himself to call the plays on the field. Rich, coincidentally, went down with an injury that night, too.
So the word ‘happy’ is not one Pendleton would use to describe his memories of playing for BYU in Logan, and with a season that to this point has been less than satisfying the former linebacker wonders if history could repeat itself this Friday night at Maverik Stadium.
